Ball pythons ( Python regius ), also known as royal pythons, are found in the grasslands and open forests of West and Central Africa.
The Ball python (Python regius) is a nonvenomous python species found in sub-Saharan Africa. This is the smallest of the African pythons. The name "ball python" refers to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened.
"Sexual size dimorphism and natural history traits are correlated with intersexual dietary divergence in royal pythons (Python regius) from the rainforests of southeastern Nigeria."
