If you want to search All Drives, in File Explorer, select Computer and perform the search. From your description, search should be working from the Documents Library as long as the Documents folder on the E: drive has been added to the Documents Library. If this still does not work, you might want to Rebuild the Index.

The problem is that the file is 'locked' ie the file is being used by 'some unknown application' and therefore cannot be deleted, moved etc. The only way that I know is to terminate the explorer and restart it.
